July 17, 2012Retention Management is a new feature of McKessonâ??s Enterprise Image Repository (EIR), offering the ability to delete data that no longer needs to be retained. It provides the flexibility to set different parameters according to different policies and requirements. System Dashboard is a new tool in the EIR which helps administrators manage and monitor how the system is performing. These features were showcased at the 2012 Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) meeting.

NewsDecember 8, 2011 – The U.S. government has awarded McKesson its digital imaging network / picture archiving and communications system (DIN PACS III) contract, allowing the company to sell PACS and related sub-systems to all branches of the U.S. armed forces and civilian defense department agency facilities. The deal is valued at a potential $30 million through the contract term, which initially runs for two years with an additional two years of options.

Case StudyDesert Radiologists is a high-efficiency practice in Las Vegas, Nev., that performs 1.25 million exams per year with a staff of 45 radiologists. Yet the practice operated with an outdated and overloaded picture archiving and communications system (PACS) that had no common worklist, no flexibility and could no longer handle its daily imaging volume. Additionally, as Desert Radiologists’ imaging volume continued to increase, its existing storage solution could not keep up. That system was a vendor-neutral archive with on-site SAN/NAS units. However, sending data to the vendor-neutral archive created two PACS and increased the complexity of managing and purging the data.

NewsSeptember 16, 2011 – During RSNA 2011, McKesson will highlight Horizon Cardiology, which enables users to improve quality of care, boost efficiencies and reduce costs while increasing physician and staff satisfaction in the cardiovascular department. It is the only cardiovascular information system (CVIS) with a single database that includes support for all cardiovascular images, waveforms and information, including cardiac and peripheral catheterization, hemodynamics monitoring, echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, nuclear cardiology, and electrocardiogram (ECG) management. This unique architecture improves the accuracy and efficiency of the department by eliminating duplicate data entry and supporting parallel workflows.
