About 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, but early detection can lead to more treatment options and increased chances of survival. On Oct. 17, Kaiser Permanente made an effort to communicate the importance of early detection by setting a Guinness World Record for the most breast cancer screenings completed in one day at multiple sites. A total of 5,939 possibly lifesaving mammograms were administered at Kaiser Permanente facilities across the country.

The study, Radiologists' Take on Meaningful Use: a KLAS-RSNA Report, features feedback from a cross section of radiologists from across the nation; those from private practice, hospital-based practice, and academic centers are all featured.

February 4, 2011 – Obese women may avoid mammograms because of pain and women under 60 may avoid the test because they are too busy, according to a study in the Journal of Women’s Health. The study, by Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research was one of the largest to examine why insured women fail to complete mammograms.
It was funded by the National Cancer Institute.
