March 25, 2009 - ONI Medical Systems has installed the new MSK Extreme 1.5T high-field dedicated musculoskeletal MRI systems at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, and UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA.

The performance of the MSK Extreme 1.5T’s gradient system reportedly exceeds that of any clinical MRI today. Its 70 m/Tm gradient strength with slew rate of 200 T/m/s achieves a new level of visualization of articular cartilage and detail resolution reportedly resulting in exceptional image quality.

“The ONI MSK Extreme 1.5T delivers images with high spatial resolution of small structures within the hand and wrist which are superior to most whole body MRI systems,” said Douglas W. Goodwin, M.D., director of musculoskeletal radiology, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

The compact size reportedly makes the system a great fit for use in outpatient clinics or surgical centers, and costs far less than traditional 1.5T MRIs. The magnet’s design allows for a quiet, relaxing patient experience. The MSK Extreme 1.5T offers all the attributes of whole-body musculoskeletal MRI in a comfortable, spaceoptimized design
