Elekta Debuts Solution to Extend Gamma Knife Utilization

Elekta will debut its eXtend program, a complete system for extending the utilization of Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion, at ASTRO 2008.
Providing cross-functional advantages in both stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic radiation therapy, the rigid carbon-fiber construction of the extend frame provides maximum stability, reportedly enabling the most accurate, noninvasive localization available. Physicians can choose a noninvasive fixation method for targets where treatment accuracy is still crucial, but not paramount.
The eXtend is pending FDA 510(k) clearance and is not yet available for commercial sale in the U.S.
