October 26, 2007 - Elekta will feature Axesse, a whole body, robotic image-guided stereotactic treatment management system, that reportedly provides a comprehensive and integrated solution to effectively apply stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT), at ASTRO, Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, 2007.
The system offers clinicians the ability to deliver higher and more conformal doses of radiation to the target in fewer fractions than with conventional radiation therapy techniques, according to the company. To improve set-up efficiency, Elekta Axesse incorporates integrated indexing facilities designed to be compatible with CT, MR, PET, SPECT and ultrasound for larger field-size requirements.
