November 19, 2007 - At RSNA 2007, Cleveland Clinic and Riverain Medical will announce the details of a newly established ongoing program to determine whether chest X-ray CAD (computer-aided detection) can improve practical early detection of lung cancer by identifying hard to detect lung cancers at an early stage when they are most treatable leading to improved patient survival rates.
Lung cancer kills more people in the United States annually than breast, prostate and colon cancers combined and clinical data show that five year patient survival can be significantly improved with early detection. However, finding tumors in their early stages when they are most treatable is extremely difficult.
Micheal Phillips, M.D., Section Head of Imaging Sciences in Cleveland Clinic’s Department Diagnostic Radiology and Sam Finkelstein, President, Riverain Medical will present the details of the project on Monday, Nov. 26 at 2 pm in Room E252 of the McCormick Place.
