FDA Clears Siemens Radiation Therapy Solution

January 24, 2008 - Siemens Medical Solutions received FDA 510(k) marketing clearance for the sale and distribution of its ARTISTE solution, a linear accelerator engineered specifically for Adaptive Radiation Therapy (ART), designed to provide a comprehensive portfolio of image-guided and advanced treatment delivery protocols.
The new radiation therapy solution offers multiple imaging modalities, from Megavoltage (MV) to in-room CT imaging, allowing clinicians to select the optimal imaging application for their treatment approach. The Mvision Cone Beam imaging package delivers soft-tissue resolution, especially in challenging cases, such as imaging prostheses and with large patients. The CTVision CT-on-rails system provides in-room, diagnostic quality imaging, allowing for opportunities to implement benchmark concepts, such as daily re-planning.
