November 20, 2008 -The recently FDA-cleared Aktina pinPoint system is a frameless noninvasive localization and fixation system for cranial stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT), as well as radiotherapy of the head and neck area that uses patented vacuum fixation technology to achieve sub-millimeter accuracy.
Localization for both cranial and head/neck treatments is accomplished via high-accuracy fiducial frames used in conjunction with a user-friendly software package (p2 AutoRegistration), which integrates to all major treatment planning systems. Patient-specific target assemblies are used to ensure accuracy without sacrificing patient throughput.
