July 6, 2010 -- A new radiography simulator will be unveiled this week at the Association of Educators in Radiologic Science annual (AEIRS) conference in Las Vegas. Shaderware Ltd. will launch the ProjectionVR v4.0, which features better integration with picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) and a new examination and projection database.
ProjectionVR, which is already used at more than 50 colleges in five countries, allows students to work in an environment that safely simulates the conditions of an X-ray unit. Projection VR gives students their own X-ray room within a laptop or lab-based computer that they can use when they are not able to use a live X-ray room.
The new upgrades include:
• Side-markers can now be applied to all receptors;
• All images are saved as DICOM objects to enable full integration with a PACS system or simple DICOM viewers;
• An extensive examination and projection database has been developed;
• The X-ray machine operator control panel/console is faithfully modelled with exposure factor manipulation and audible simulation of exposure; and
• Scattered radiation grids have also been added for cross table projections.
Live demonstrations of ProjectionVR v4.0 were available at AEIRS, Stand 12, on July 8-10, 2010.
