Feb. 6, 2007 - Respironics Inc. announced today the launch of EverFlo, its five-liter, stationary oxygen concentrator and newest member of the Company’s Freedom Series of oxygen therapy products. The 31-pound concentrator is designed to provide oxygen therapy to prescribed patients while reducing the costs associated with the delivery of therapy such as maintenance, unscheduled patient calls and visits, and shipping and storage. These nonequipment-related expenses account for 72 percent of the costs of providing home oxygen therapy to Medicare beneficiaries, according to a 2006 Morrison Informatics study published by the American Association for Homecare.
Specific provider cost-saving features include an internal filter that needs to be changed only once every two years. Additionally, the EverFlo’s light weight (31 pounds) and small size make it easier and less expensive for homecare providers to transport and store.
For the patient’s convenience and comfort, the lighter weight EverFlo concentrator uses less power and produces less heat and noise. And with EverFlo, patients are not required to replace a filter.
The five-liter EverFlo stationary oxygen concentrator is currently available in the United States and Canada and can be purchased with or without an oxygen percentage indicator. The Company intends to release EverFlo in Africa, Asia, Australia , Europe and the Middle East in the near future.
