October 8, 2007 - At GE Healthcare’s 2007 Media Day, the company discussed developments in GE Global Research regarding digital X-ray and the future of cancer.
GE Healthcare now has a 3D Tomosynthesis unit in clinical trials for breast imaging. Beyond that investigational application, GE researchers also are focused on expanding 3D digital x-ray applications to other possible clinical areas.
Researchers at GE are reportedly focused on taking the company’s pioneering digital x-ray imaging platform to 3D. Using reconstruction techniques similar to Computed Tomography (CT), for example, they are working to reconstruct a 3D image.
