Medicsight Features ColonCAD with Integrated Advanced Visualization Partners


Medicsight will be showing its ColonCAD product, integrated with a number of Advanced Visualization partners, including Vital Images, Viatronix, TeraRecon and Barco. The system reportedly offers a safe, rapid and minimally-invasive means of imaging the entire colon. ColonCAD aims to release the full potential of CT colonography by improving the accuracy and productivity of detecting polyps in the colon.

By using an advanced CAD algorithm to review CT scan data and automatically highlight specific regions of interest, the system is said to provide a valuable tool for reviewing clinicians to support their search for abnormalities within the colon that may be the early precursors of potential life threatening disease.

An update to the CT Colonography Reporting and Data System (C-RADS) was published Jan. 30 in the journal Radiology. According to a written statement from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), “CT Colonography Reporting and Data System (C-RADS): Version 2023 Update,” provides useful insights gained since the implementation of the original system in 2005.

The bipartisan bill introduced in the U.S. Senate September 19 would provide Medicare coverage for screening computed tomography colonography (CTC), commonly known as virtual colonoscopy.
