A broad range of solutions, including the DR 100s, VALORY, DR 800 with DSA and Smart XR, are putting intelligent tools in the hands of the radiographer

November 10, 2022 —  At RNSA, visitors can discover highlights including how:

• The groundbreaking mobile DR 100s brings smart, fast, high-quality DR imaging to the bedside, with excellent maneuverability and ease of use.

• The DR 800 with Dynamic MUSICA and digital subtraction angiography adds clinical value to a wide range of applications, with fast image reconstruction images with less noise and fewer artifacts.

• VALORY ceiling-suspended and floor-mounted digital radiography rooms, with top-level MUSICA image processing, offer a functionality that goes far beyond the usual basics.

• The Dura-line family of robust, reliable and cost-effective detectors, delivers exquisite image quality.

• SmartXR intelligent digital radiography tools for dose, alignment, patient positioning and more, enhance clinical and operational performance, while leaving the radiographer in control.

Agfa is delighted to participate in-person at RSNA 2022, to shine a light on how its groundbreaking, intelligent solutions ‘Empower X-ray Experts’, by providing smart, meaningful answers to radiology’s real needs.

Visitors to Agfa’s booth can discover the ground-breaking DR 100s, including the latest additions that make it even easier, faster and safer to use. Other highlights include VALORY, delivering ‘Excellence. Pure and simple.’, with both ceiling-suspended and floor-mounted X-ray rooms; the intelligent and dynamic DR 800, now with digital subtraction angiography; the trailblazing SmartXR 2/4 artificial intelligence portfolio; and the new Dura-line family of robust, reliable and cost-effective detectors.

Enhancing Patient Comfort, Safety and Care

Agfa’s extensive direct radiography (DR) portfolio combines leading-edge technology with ergonomic design and exceptional image quality. These solutions support busy healthcare providers to maximize their workflow, without any compromises on reliability, or the safety and comfort of patients and staff.

“More than ever, healthcare and radiology teams need to ensure that each member can do what they do best. This is why we are committed to making sure every hospital can implement intelligent tools for ‘Empowering X-ray Experts’. Putting the right functionalities at their fingertips, our solutions aim to assist these experts to deliver enhanced patient care, by delivering high image quality, a smoother, more efficient workflow, and the lowest dose possible. We invite visitors to RSNA to stop by our booth, and discuss with us how we can make this happen,” comments Jeroen Spruyt, Head of DR at Agfa.

Enhanced Mobile Ergonomics and Agility: DR 100s With SmartXR

The groundbreaking mobile DR 100s, designed in collaboration with users around the world, combines fast, high-quality DR imaging with excellent maneuverability and ease of use.

Manual movement is nearly effortless in all three axes, thanks to the tube head with ZeroForce technology. ZeroForce has been enhanced to speed up vertical movement, further reducing radiographer strain. Other improvements allow the X-ray beam to be centered on the body part without losing the tubehead angle, for faster and easier tubehead positioning, while added safety features ensure the tubehead and PC screen do not collide. The unique SmartXR provides predictive workflow assistance that helps improve efficiency and consistency of outcomes.

A Single Solution for Basic and Advanced Applications: DR 800 With DSA

The versatile DR 800 is the heart of ‘sustainable imaging’. This flexible DR multifunctional system enables care providers to perform a full range of radiography and fluoroscopy exams, with one investment. Digital subtraction 3/4 angiography (DSA) functionality delivers a smooth and efficient workflow for angiography examinations. The DR 800 comes with Dynamic MUSICA image processing software, which can handle fluoroscopic images with the same high quality and low-dose features that have made MUSICA the ‘gold standard’ for radiology departments around the world.

Beyond the Basics: VALORY and Dura-Line Deliver Flexibility, Reliability and Affordability

Offering a choice of ceiling-suspended or floor-mounted X-ray tube, VALORY delivers a simple design with functionality that goes beyond ‘basic’, to bring reliability, productivity and ‘first-time-right’ imaging into reach for any hospital. It comes with the top-level MUSICA image processing that is standard with all of Agfa’s digital radiography solutions, including the Dura-line Cesium Iodide detectors.

These Dura-line detectors deliver robust reliability, cost-effectiveness, the potential for significant patient dose reduction1 and outstanding 15-hour battery autonomy. Dura-line detectors can be shared between different modalities, thanks to the Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology. The range of 10” x 12” (25 cm x 32 cm), 14” x 17” (36 cm x 43 cm) and 17” x 17” (43 cm x 43 cm) sizes, all offer outstanding battery autonomy and excellent scintillator quality.

VALORY, Dura-line and MUSICA together create a powerful yet affordable combination that delivers high image quality at the lowest possible dose and enables any hospital to enhance its imaging productivity and confidence.

The Radiographer’s ‘Intelligent Assistant’: the Plug-and-Play SmartXR

SmartXR puts X-ray artificial intelligence to work to ‘Empower X-ray Experts’, adding intelligent digital radiography tools for dose, alignment, patient positioning and more to Agfa’s DR solutions. Acting as the radiographer’s ‘intelligent assistant’, they enable a smoother, more efficient daily imaging workflow and more consistent images. 1 Testing with board-certified radiologists has determined that Cesium Bromide (CR) and Cesium Iodide (DR) detectors, when used with MUSICA image processing, can provide dose reductions of 50 to 60%, compared to traditional Barium Fluoro Bromide CR systems. Contact Agfa for more details. 4/4 Integrated sensors and cameras combined with powerful AI software, 3D machine vision, deep learning and machine intelligence, assist the radiographer to maximize the imaging workflow while delivering superior images.

The full SmartXR portfolio is available for Agfa’s mobile DR 100s and premium DR 600 room, while the SmartRotate functionality is now available for all Agfa CR and DR systems. SmartRotate directly and automatically presents images ready for viewing, speeding up the imaging workflow and enabling better comparison with priors, thanks to the consistent presentation of images in the PACS.
