June 4, 2008 – For the first time, the annual Breast Imaging Conference will host full-day, dedicated self-assessment workshops in digital mammography training and MRI: A Hands-on Experience in MRI Biopsy, as well as offer its 250 radiologists, technologists, administrators and allied healthcare professionals a full program filled with educational components, hands-on workshops and special focus sessions, Sept. 3-6, 2008, in Nashville, TN.

Sponsored by the Medical College of Wisconsin and supported by Hologic, the 28th Annual Breast Imaging Conference will educate participants about the diagnosis of benign and malignant breast disease. The program is designed to provide the most innovative educational experience with the latest advancements in digital technology, MRI and the future of breast imaging.

During the conference, participants can choose from special educational tracks focused on breast imaging and administration, and during this year’s workshops, an audience response system will be used to allow each attendee to assess his or her skills. Presentations will include Improving the Economics of a Breast Facility, Breast Imaging Management, Cross Training Technologists and Probably Benign Lesions.

Upon completion of the conference, led by renowned faculty from some of the country’s most respected medical institutions, participants will be able to: describe the identification and management of patients at high risk for breast cancer; understand the current state of breast MRI and ultrasound for screening; understand the technical aspects and utilization of digital mammography and CAD; understand the evolving role of technologists in mammography, ultrasound and MRI and describe methods for the optimal management of breast imaging centers.

The Medical College of Wisconsin designates this educational activity for a maximum of 18.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Additional digital and MRI credits may be obtained by attending the workshops. ASRT will provide Category A accreditation for technologists and administrators.

In association with the event, the Breast Imaging Conference is pleased to announce its Resident Development Program. In support of the continuing education and development of residents in the field of mammography, organizers will nominate and select five residents to receive a grant to attend the annual BIC as guests of the program committee.
