Radiation Shield Technology Cuts Costs, Time

December 20, 2010 – A new shielding solution is now available that is designed to fit around a radiation therapy system. Total Shield, by Nelco, makes it possible to fit a TomoTherapy radiation therapy system into an existing under-shielded vault or treatment room.

This is especially useful where there may not be enough space to install necessary shielding for modern intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) devices. Instead of adding shielding in the walls, the Total Shield enclosure is designed to wrap around the system itself.
