November 14, 2013 — Indianapolis-based Modular Devices Inc. reported it expanded its fleet of interim labs to include more
computed tomography (CT) scanner options. The turnkey labs are available to medical centers around the country for short and long-term leases.
At a time when many CT lab providers have suffered from slumping sales and general growth, Modular Devices spent years researching the field, acquiring and refurbishing equipment, and educating its staff technicians.
Modular Devices’ interim CT labs feature completely refurbished 16-slice systems from GE, Phillips and Siemens. The scanners are integrated into trailers that are subject to a 100-point inspection upon each lease completion.
The launch follows 25 years of successful implementation of cath, angio and electrophysiology (EP) labs in facilities of all sizes. Notable projects include massive disaster relief efforts for tornado-torn Joplin, Mo. in 2011.
Modular Devices’ most recent interim CT lab venture is underway at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, Calif. The mobile CT lab has helped the hospital obtain a Level II Trauma Center designation.
