New operation mode automatically optimizes exposure, iris and gain for improved X-ray imaging of spines

Qioptiq Introduces SlimLine for X-ray Diagnostics Featuring Spine Mode

February 23, 2018 – Qioptiq, an Excelitas Technologies Company, recently introduced SlimLine for X-ray Diagnostics featuring Spine Mode. The new operation mode enables automatic optimization of overexposed images for maximum contrast and visibility of the spine.

X-ray images of spines and extremities typically suffer from low contrast because traditional automatic settings are not advanced enough for proper exposure of this specialized case, as the settings are normally selected to properly expose the whole image. In spine mode, SlimLine steadily searches for the interesting part of the picture and optimizes exposure, iris and gain just for these attributes, resulting in maximum visibility of all details of the spine, albeit other parts of the picture are overexposed.

The SlimLine system is a complete lens and camera original equipment manufacturer (OEM) solution that has been designed and optimized especially for X-ray diagnostics. The system consists of the SlimLine lens assembly and the QioCam X-ray camera. SlimLine lens assembly offers a high-performance combination of optics (lens elements), mechanics (housing, flange) and electronics (motor control board for Iris communication). The QioCam X-ray camera is based on the high resolution and sensitivity of the latest CMOS technology.

SlimLine is offered as a standard product that can also be customized by OEMs to meet specific application requirements.
