September 20, 2019 — Aktina Medical introduced several new products at the 2019 American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting, Sept. 15-18 in Chicago. Featured introductions included PositionPro, a new pitch and roll correction-enabled immobilization system for cranial and head and neck radiotherapy treatments, a new line of thermoplastics and a strapless Respiratory Compression Belt.
In addition, Aktina Medical will be showcasing its line of Interlocking Small Field Circular Cones that ensure accurate radiation dosage. The system of lead-based cones with stainless steel sleeves reduces the risk of human error by confirming the installed cone matches the programmed plan before proceeding. Also on display will be the SpiroCheck Duo automated quality assurance system for the Active Breathing Coordinator. The system ensures precise readings to within 1.25 percent and performance in critical radiotherapy planning and treatment.
