May 16, 2008 - In conjunction with the Fisher House program, a non-profit group created to help severely injured service men and women, ASC volunteers served up a Texas-style barbecue for injured soldiers and their families and worked to beautify the lawns and gardens surrounding temporary housing for the friends and family members of the wounded soldiers undergoing treatment at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, host city for The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association inaugural meeting (ASCs 2008).
“This is a very challenging time for these men and women and their families who have given so much for our country, and this kind of support really helps to brighten their days,” said Milla Perry Jones, coordinator of the event and vice president of communications and government affairs for United Surgical Partners International Inc.
Anyone who could not participate but would like to make a contribution to the service men and women and their families can either drop a prepaid telephone calling card or gift card at the ASCs 2008 meeting registration desk anytime during the meeting or mail a contribution to the Ambulatory Surgery Foundation, 1012 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.
