March 16, 2016 — Candelis Inc. announced availability of the latest version of its platform software at the 2016 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference. Version 2.2.8, dubbed Mercury, offers vendor neutral archive (VNA) capabilities for health data storage.
The Mercury platform enables any facility — be it a small imaging center, a community hospital or a large hospital — to consolidate patient imaging and other departmental content into one repository.
The latest Mercury upgrade includes the following features:
- Support for external storage;
- XDS support;
- Backup to sister system;
- Cloud or external storage pool;
- Vendor agnostic/neutral viewers; and
- Vendor agnostic/neutral image management.
Mercury has also improved workflow and visualization features. Customers can now seamlessly manage patient studies from outside facilities or automatically handle prior studies with different patient identifier schemas after facility mergers. Capabilities to improve workflow productivity are also included in the new version.

The existing Candelis customer base under service is entitled to this upgrade, which also offers built-in connectivity to Candelis' ASTRA cloud services. ASTRA provides capabilities for secure health data exchange, robust backup and disaster recovery, and rich services for referring physicians.
