November 21, 2008 — Carestream Health’s KODAK Point-of-Care CR-ITX 550 System won the “Technological Innovation Award” at the China International Industry Fair (CIIF).
A panel of judges from the conference cited the product’s unique design and outstanding functionality in its decision.
The KODAK Point-of-Care CR-ITX 550 System integrates a reportedly powerful CR reader with a portable X-ray unit to create a self-contained mobile imaging package. Carestream Health donated two of these systems to the Red Cross Society of China to provide diagnostic X-ray exams to victims of the earthquake in southwestern China's Sichuan Province. The systems were used to provide diagnosis services to the injured and enabled one of the first teleradiology connections from the Sichuan Huaxi Hospital—resulting in remote medical consultations on more than 600 patient cases. The systems’ utility was lauded by the Red Cross Society and healthcare providers who used them in the disaster recovery effort.
