Carestream Health Unveils Newest DR System

November, 21, 2007 - Carestream Health Inc. has introduced the new KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 3500 System, a compact digital radiography system that the company says delivers the small footprint, functionality and convenience required by a broad range of healthcare facilities including hospitals, outpatient imaging centers and orthopedic clinics.
As the replacement for the DR 3000 platform, the DR 3500 system’s new capabilities include: optional pre-programmed auto-positioning that allows technologists to position the equipment by pressing a single button; auto-collimator enhancements including field size and filter pre-programmed for each projection; optional remote control that adjusts collimator settings and can activate pre-programmed positions; patient positioning enhancements such as a support bar for lateral chest exams and patient handles on the Bucky; and a new, brighter and easier to read control panel.
Like its predecessor, the compact DR 3500 system is fully motorized with a floor-mounted stand that does not require wall mounts or ceiling suspension provisions. This single detector system can also be configured with a newly designed moveable table as an option. The system can also be configured with a multifunctional, height-adjustable exam table with a four-way floating top that is designed for flexible patient positioning. The pedestal design can be freely positioned at any angle to the detector and supports 500 lbs (227kg).
Preview images are available in less than six seconds and the detector features a large 17 x 17-inch image area that the company says eliminates the need for rotation. The system’s large cesium iodide detector matrix (3001 x 3001) with 143 micron pixels, combined with proprietary advanced image processing software, reportedly produces sharp, detailed images.
