The largest supplier of private healthcare in Denmark switches to Agfa DR based on image quality and support for a broad range of applications

April 12, 2022 — The largest supplier of private healthcare in Denmark switches to Agfa DR based on image quality and support for a broad range of applications. Aleris-Hamlet is the largest supplier of private healthcare in Denmark, with seven hospitals throughout the country. It is part of the Aleris Group, which is one of Scandinavia’s leading private healthcare companies. Upon referral from a patient’s physician, Aleris-Hamlet offers a range of diagnostic imaging services, including X-ray, CT, mammography, MRI and ultrasound.

Radiology services are provided at five of the Aleris-Hamlet hospitals. For two of these sites, Aleris-Hamlet has chosen to switch from a 3rd party vendor to Agfa for digital radiography (DR). In December 2021, an agreement was signed for implementing a VALORY DR room with a Dura-line™ XD 17 wireless detector at the Aleris-Hamlet Aalborg hospital, and a DR 400 room at the Aleris-Hamlet Aarhus hospital. Agfa’s partner in Denmark, DuMed, played a key role in enabling the decision of Aleris-Hamlet, and the solutions were installed by the end of January 2022.

“Agfa’s digital imaging solutions offer excellent image quality for a broad range of applications, which will enable us to increase the satisfaction of patients and referrers, and to strengthen our offer for corporate partners. We are pleased with the service and professionalism of Agfa and DuMed. The installations were carried out promptly, and we look forward to developing our relationship in the future,” said Vivian Brix, Hospital Manager, Aleris-Hamlet Aalborg.

“We are proud that Aleris-Hamlet has chosen to switch to Agfa for digital X-ray at two of its hospitals. Our Valory DR room, Dura-line detectors and DR 400 have proven their value in increasing productivity and enabling care providers to enhance the care and services they deliver. With their scalability and ease of use, these DR solutions fit into any hospital environment, supporting greater efficiency and patient satisfaction. Furthermore, we appreciate the hard work of our partner DuMed, including Business Manager Iman Andersen, in enabling this success – not just the first Valory in Europe, but the second in the world!,” said Vassilis Karkalis, Sales Director North South East Europe, Agfa Radiology Solutions.

The Valory DR room balances reliability and productivity in a modern and easy-to-use design. Combined with the gold-standard Musica image quality, it provides ‘first-time right’ imaging. The DR room’s modular approach lets the Aleris-Hamlet Aalborg hospital fit the configuration to current needs and budgets, with the flexibility to upgrade at their own speed.

The 17-inch Dura-line Cesium Iodide detector, which was delivered with the Valory room, offers robust reliability, cost-effectiveness and excellent battery autonomy. Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology allows Dura-line detectors to be shared between different modalities, and combined with the intelligent Musica image processing software, they deliver high image quality at the lowest possible dose.1

DR 400: Flexibility and image quality

The floor-mounted DR 400 room offers the Aleris-Hamlet Aarhus hospital scalable, versatile direct radiography. The DR system supports high patient throughput and a lower cost per examination, while offering the potential to grow and develop with the needs of the hospital.

Like all Agfa DR solutions, the DR 400 is delivered with the Musica Imaging Workstation, providing workflow efficiency and intelligence with a single, intuitive interface, and comprising the Musica image processing software for excellent image quality. About Agfa Agfa develops, produces and distributes an extensive range of imaging systems and workflow solutions for the printing industry, the healthcare sector, as well.

1 Testing with board-certified radiologists has determined that Cesium Bromide (CR) and Cesium Iodide (DR) detectors, when used with Musica image processing, can provide dose reductions of 50 to 60%, compared to traditional Barium Fluoro Bromide CR systems. Contact Agfa for more details.
