September 22, 2009 - Elekta will host its 2009 Radiation Oncology Users
Meeting (ROUM), Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Chicago, Ill. Now in its 18th year, the ROUM is the premier event for radiation oncologists, nurses, physicists and therapists in town for the 51st American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Annual Meeting. Participants also are invited to attend the Elekta Halloween Charity Bash.

Taking place at the Hilton in downtown Chicago, the meeting will open with a general session entitled: Beyond Technology, There Are Intelligent Solutions. Three concurrent mini general sessions will follow, as well as afternoon breakouts that delve into topics such as the latest technology and treatment techniques for cancer care, government stimulus and changes in reimbursement.

Following the meeting, is the Elekta Halloween Charity Bash. The first vendor-sponsored charity event of its kind, all donations will go directly to All Are Our Heroes (www.allareourheroes.com), a song project benefiting Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. Featuring a DJ, dancing and more, the party will be held at Union Station Chicago from 7:30 - 11:30 p.m. Tickets are required for entry and available for $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

"Elekta is committed to continuing its 18-year tradition of thanking our customers - and this year will give all of us a chance to celebrate with a purpose," said Jay Hoey president and CEO of Elekta North America. "Since the party is on Halloween, costumes are encouraged and everyone should expect the same spirit of fun, camaraderie and entertainment they've grown accustomed to in years past."
