Global Dosimetry Solutions Inc., a division of Mirion Technologies, announced the release of a copper doped quartz fiber in vivo dosimeter, which provides real-time assessment of tissue exposure to radiation during radiodiagnostic and radiotherapeutic procedures, as part of its strategy to provide solutions for radiation therapy and diagnostic radiology.
The core technologies of this device were developed at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, and the product features: linear dose response from 1 to 1,000 monitor units; dose rate independent; uniform angular response; diameter of 400 microns; thin size allows for insertion through a catheter to targeted tumor; sanitization by autoclaving; and discrimination of interference caused by Cerenkov radiation and fluorescence photons
