July 11, 2014 — Kubtec’s new patent pending technology TomoSpec is an integral part of Mozart 3D specimen radiography system. Digital specimen tomosynthesis is a 3-D imaging modality for the intraoperative imaging of excised breast tissue.

TomoSpec reconstructs 3-D tomographic images from 2-D projection images in real-time. TomoSpec offers the ability to examine specimens at varying slice depths, and includes the K-view image for a comprehensive 2-D view of individual slices at higher resolution.

TomoSpec technology eliminates the need to acquire multiple images of a specimen container at varying angles for margin confirmation. The acquired data set provides greater detail and more information than available in any 2-D image. Physicians have the ability to view individual 3D slices for the exact location of calcifications in breast specimens.

Mozart will be the first system using the TomoSpec technology. Image acquisition time is comparable to 2-D system images and Mozart does not require a dedicated specimen container and can be used with most available specimen containers.
