March 6, 2007 - Research recently presented at the thirty-second annual Scientific Meeting of the Society of Interventional Radiology shows that the non-surgical tumor treatment, radiofrequency ablation, reportedly heats and destroys nerve endings in painful tumors, preserving the patient's healthy bone, preventing major surgery and eliminating the need for lengthy rehabilitation and recovery.
The process allows radiologists to view the tumor with a CT and insert the needle into the correct area while monitoring heat, ensuring that the entire tumor is destroyed and will not reappear.
