Planmed Oy introduces Planmed Verity, a new mobile computed tomography (CT) scanner for orthopedic imaging of the extremities. The Planmed Verity is a low-dose imaging system that provides fast and accurate 3-D imaging of peripheral skeletal fractures and disorders at the point-of-care. The compact device can be easily sited in any existing X-ray room, side-by-side with other imaging systems.

Planmed Verity’s compact form and freestanding gantry provide easy access also for wheelchair patients and allow bedside imaging. For optimum patient comfort, the Planmed Verity features an adaptable, soft-surfaced gantry with an extended bore optimized for orthopedic imaging. The gantry and positioning trays are easily adjustable for imaging foot, ankle, knee, hand, wrist or elbow. Furthermore, special gantry movements allow a unique and completely new application, weight-bearing CT imaging.

Also featured at RSNA 2010 was the Planmed Nuance Excel full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system. It offers optimal image quality and ergonomics, as well as ease-of-use in both screening and diagnostic mammography.

85 µm pixel size amorphous selenium (a-Se) direct-conversion detector provides high dose efficiency and ultimate image quality. Two detector sizes are available — 17 by 24 cm (Planmed Nuance) and 24 by 31 cm (Planmed Nuance Excel). Tungsten tube, Ag/Rh filters and ingenious Flex-AEC automated exposure control ensure high image quality with the lowest possible radiation dose for breasts of all sizes and compositions. The units also excel in stereotactic procedures with the optional Planmed Nuance DigiGuide system.

Planmed innovations, such as Side Access and MaxView, enable easier and more reliable breast positioning with optimized ergonomics. Planmed computer-aided detection (CAD) is also available for enhanced image interpretation at the Planmed Nuance Softview diagnostic workstation.
