Radiologists Give Siemens’ New Lung CAD High Marks

In the largest multi-center, multi-reader study performed to date, researchers used Siemens’ syngoLung CAD as a second reader for nearly 200 thoracic computed tomography (CT) exams. Seventeen radiologists, using data from four leading medical centers in the United States, reported that CAD helped “to considerably increase their detection accuracy for clinically significant lung nodules.”
Siemens Medical Solutions received FDA 510(k) clearance for syngoLung CAD, which is designed to assist radiologists in the detection of solid lung nodules in computed tomography (CT) examinations of the chest. The syngoLung CAD is the second-generation nodule detection software from Siemens, following syngo LungCare NEV (Nodule-Enhanced Viewing).
