“The Doctors” segment highlights system’s Fly Thru technology

July 31, 2012 — Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc.’s newest ultrasound system, the Aplio 500, was featured on the nationally syndicated television show, “The Doctors.” In an episode about old medical remedies versus new technologies, hosts Lisa Masterson, M.D., and Travis Stork, M.D., talked about the Aplio 500’s Fly Thru feature and how it can benefit patients.

Fly Thru gives a new perspective to 4-D ultrasound, allowing clinicians to “fly through” interiors of ducts and vessels for better exploration of lesions and masses. Fly Thru enables clinicians to visualize abnormalities from the inside out, similar to a virtual endoscope, making it easier to potentially see subtle abnormalities that could otherwise be missed.

“Toshiba works every day to develop technologies that improve the quality of life for all people,” said Tomohiro Hasegawa, director, Ultrasound Business Unit, Toshiba. “The Aplio 500 is one example of how we are doing that by enabling clinicians to use ultrasound in new ways for faster, more accurate, non-invasive diagnoses.”
