December 23, 2015 — Toshiba is reducing the cost of computed tomography (CT) system ownership with the launch of the all-new Aquilion Lightning. The premium-component, entry-level system provides an economic advantage for healthcare providers looking to maximize their equipment investment.
The Aquilion Lightning is a 16 detector row system with a small footprint to allow providers to save on both space and cost. These savings do not come at the sacrifice of premium technology as the system utilizes the same PUREViSION CT Detector technology that is used in premium Toshiba CT systems and includes AIDR (Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction) 3D Enhanced to help reduce dose. In addition, Adaptive Diagnostic solutions, such as Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction (SEMAR) and SURESubtraction, help simplify complex scans for more consistent imaging. These technologies, along with what the company calls the industry’s thinnest slices at 0.5 mm, and a 78-cm bore that is the widest in the 16-row detector radiology segment, help optimize workflow and patient comfort.
Toshiba showcased the Aquilion Lightning CT system at this year’s Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, Nov. 29 – Dec. 4, 2015.
