Newest patent integrates machine learning into the Mednax Common Imaging Platform to maximize diagnostic imaging evaluation and assist radiologists

vRad Receives 19th Patent

April 10, 2019 – vRad (Virtual Radiologic), a Mednax Radiology Solutions practice, announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued the company’s 19th patent. The new patent, Patent No. 10,198,816 B2, is entitled “Medical Evaluation Machine Learning Workflows and Processes.” The patent covers methods and systems for automated image recognition using artificial intelligence (AI) in an electronic workflow and for performing a diagnostic evaluation of a medical image study that can be modified, updated or prioritized.

Once the AI-based evaluation is completed, the study can be re-routed, prioritized or modified to enable a specialist to quickly get “eyes on images.” They can then evaluate the patient’s clinical situation to determine if they require immediate urgent care, while also ensuring a complete and accurate diagnosis.

The Mednax Common Imaging Platform, powered by vRad, enables the company to integrate thousands of facilities in all 50 states through a national technology platform.
