May 18, 2007 — ZOLL Medical Corp., a manufacturer of resuscitation devices and related software solutions, today announced that it will display its range of resuscitation products — including the new ZOLL R Series defibrillator — in its booth (#1227) at the 2007 National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition May 22-24 in Atlanta. More than 6,500 critical care nurses are expected to attend.

The ZOLL R Series is a Code-Ready device that offers a OneStep system to simplify and speed up deployment of pacing and defibrillation therapy. It also offers smart tools to help clinicians improve CPR performance, which is important since more than half of in-hospital codes involve non-shockable rhythms and, in such cases, the only treatment is high-quality CPR with minimal interruptions.
The R Series can also verify the condition and expiration date of the electrode set. All of this testing occurs without disconnecting electrodes or paddles, or requiring additional equipment to test shock delivery. The system provides a printed or electronic log to alert hospital personnel of any concerns in advance of a code. A simple green checkmark indicates that the R Series is fully ready for use.
In keeping with ZOLL’s vision to help improve CPR quality and increase survival rates, ZOLL will hold a breakfast symposium on May 22 entitled “High Performance CPR — Impacting Patient Outcomes,” featuring leading resuscitation expert and author Dana Peres Edelson, M.D. The session will review the components of high quality CPR by presenting clinical data on compression rate and depth, as well as the impact of interruptions and excessive ventilations, and how these factors influence patient outcomes. The session will also cover the tools available to improve the quality of in-hospital CPR including feedback and automatic compressions.
ZOLL invites exhibition attendees to participate in the CPR Challenge using the AED Pro and AED Plus defibrillators in Booth #1227. Every hour, ZOLL will award prizes to attendees with the highest percentage of compressions in target (i.e., best rate and depth of chest compressions) that would be effective in helping maintain blood flow to the brain and heart of a cardiac arrest victim.

ZOLL CodeNet, which is the first software system that allows hospital teams to better document, manage, and review cardiac arrest event and resuscitation information. CodeNet brings new improvements and efficiencies in data capture, event time synchronization, and case and aggregate reporting. It is the only system that time stamps logged events and synchronizes these times with defibrillator data, providing clinicians with a complete and accurate timeline of an entire cardiac arrest event.
The ZOLL M Series CCT, which offers ZOLL’s superior biphasic defibrillation, external pacing, complete monitoring, and a large full-color display in a single portable unit. The M Series CCT features a three-channel display for ECG and two invasive pressures with ranges covering arterial, pulmonary arterial, central venous, or intracranial, as well as two temperature channels. It also provides all the non-invasive parameter options including SpO2, EtCO2, NIBP and fully interpretive 12-lead ECG.
The AutoPulse, which is an automated, noninvasive cardiac support pump. Its unique, load-distributing LifeBand squeezes a wide surface area of the chest, helping to move more blood, more effectively than is possible with human hands.
