November 14, 2007 - Mecklenburg Radiology Associates, a 35-radiologist group that reads exams for a range of specialty practices, has chosen Neurostar’s Virtual Radiology Network (VRN) for the communication of images from offsite locations, reportedly VRN speeding client images over the Internet to Mecklenburg’s offices and enabling the company to deliver an enhanced and faster level of client service.

Based on service-oriented architecture (SOA), the VRN reportedly delivers complete PACS functionality and powers outsourced radiology service providers with a unique, highly cost-effective alternative to PACS, according to the company.

The radiology group, which owns Orion Imaging in Gastonia, NC, also interprets exams for six local medical practices, including internal medicine, family practice, orthopedic, urology and oncology, as well as two hospital systems.
