Nation’s fifth largest Catholic health system will own one of the largest imaging archives in North America

Visage Signs Mercy for Visage 7 Open Archive

August 9, 2018 — Visage Imaging Inc. announced that it has signed a seven-year contract with Mercy, the fifth largest Catholic health system in the U.S., for Visage 7 Open Archive. Visage 7 Open Archive is a core module of the Visage 7 Enterprise Imaging Platform, closely coupling the open storage of medical images and multimedia to Visage 7.

The contract will see Visage 7 Open Archive implemented across the Mercy health system, which spans four states. Project scope includes the migration of over 25 million diagnostic imaging exams, encompassing 800 terabytes (TB), from the current Mercy archive to Visage 7 Open Archive. Visage said the migration would make it one of the largest medical imaging archives in North America. The project began in late June 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of FY2019.

"Last year, we implemented Visage 7 across Mercy, eliminating nine separate legacy PACS [picture archiving and communication systems]," said Gil Hoffman, CIO, Mercy Technology Services. "Now, by extending our use of Visage, we can provide high availability of our imaging system for always-on patient care, and maximize strategic capabilities in a single platform."

The Visage 7 Enterprise Imaging Platform delivers fast server-side rendered images streamed via an intelligent thin-client viewer with what the company calls unmatched interoperability. Radiologists and referring physicians have a customized, protocol-driven workflow to natively view multi-dimensional imagery and multimedia using a One Viewer philosophy, scaled to support sophisticated healthcare organizations. Solutions include enterprise interpretation and viewing; archiving; artificial intelligence; image enablement of electronic health records (EHRs); radiology information systems (RIS)/PACS, as well as mobile diagnostic access from anywhere.
